About the event

The LSU AgCenter’s AgMagic on the River is an interactive, hands-on, educational experience for elementary school children and their families. Students will learn about the important connections among agriculture, the environment, and their lives. Students will visit exhibits highlighting Louisiana agriculture crops such as sugar cane, citrus, rice and vegetables. Livestock will be exhibited where students can touch and feel baby chicks, calves, goats, sheep and horses. There will be a section on Louisiana wetlands, coastal plants, crawfish and alligators. Students will also learn about the importance of pollinators to agriculture and will experience insects such as bees and butterflies. Guided tours are available in March for school groups in grades 3rd-6th. This is a free event held along the Mississippi River at DocVille Farm in Violet, Louisiana.
