Ty Salvant
NOLA Homeschoolers Founder

A New Orleans native, this mother of 5 has children ranging from 6-14 years-old. With over 13 years of homeschool experience,  she has experience with various programs including: Classical Conversations, K12 LAVCA, and Young Scholars. Ty is a graduate of UNO where she received her degree in psychology. Subsequently, she completed the Parent Leadership Training Institute and 4.0 Schools programs. When she's not homeschooling, Ty enjoys being with friends and volunteering with the Junior League of New Orleans and Catholic Engaged Encounter

NOLA Homeschoolers began as an online resource.  In April 2010, Ty found a website that showed how to write letters using a clock face and LOVED it. She bookmarked it to use it for the following school year.  August came and went and she couldn't find the site. After emailing everyone she knew, searching the computer for months and painstakingly going through all of her bookmarks, in November, she found it! During that time, she wondered why there wasn't a website that housed websites that people wanted to access later. The night she found Phonogram Page, she created NOLA Homeschoolers. Over the years, it has evolved to meet the needs of area homeschoolers. adding clubs, group subscriptions, field trips and a co-op.

Ashley Griffith

Field Trip Coordinator

A Virginia native, Ashley moved to New Orleans 3 years ago. While here, she added two children bringing her to a family of 5, ranging from 8 weeks to 8 years. During the past 3 years, Ashley has tried various programs including: Classical Conversations, My Father's World, and Abeka. Ashley has undergraduate degree in Foreign Affairs from University of VA and a JD from the College of William and Mary. Relaxing with her hubby, cooking, and volunteering at church round out her interests, when she's not catching up on sleep or homeschooling.

Weekly field trip opportunities take time and dedication to organize. If you have a suggestion, feel free to reach out to Ashley. Because there are at least 40 field trips planned a year, if you are able to assist, let us know.
